Wow, Explore Foundation’s huge donation!
We are blown away by Explore Foundation’s incredible donation of £10,000 per year up to 2029 – supporting a whopping 25 children through high school!
The school fees, uniform, books and stationery will be paid for every year by the Explore Foundation, guaranteeing the education of orphaned and very vulnerable children in Eswatini.
We cannot overstate how meaningful it is for the children – all of whom are experiencing grief, trauma and poverty – to have this stability.
“At The Explore Foundation, we’ve always believed that education can change lives. That’s why we’re delighted to support Lifting Spirits and help 25 children stay in school for the next four years, giving them the opportunity to keep learning and reach their full potential,” shared Hannah Methven from the Explore Foundation.
The Explore Foundation is a registered charity launched by the adventure travel company Explore Worldwide to support community projects in the countries they visit – one of which is Eswatini.
“This incredible gesture by Explore Foundation is literally changing 25 young lives in more ways than we can list. Guaranteeing their education is the main focus and is absolutely vital, giving them the tools they need to rewrite their futures – helping them, their communities and future families,” said Michelle Meineke, Founder and Co-Director of Lifting Spirits.
“But it also brings so many other major benefits. It means each child gets one guaranteed meal a day at school and that they are not on the streets where they are very vulnerable to sex trafficking and gangs,” explained Michelle.
In addition, it means the children are exposed to positive mindset sessions where they can think of their futures differently, breaking away from generational habits.
Seeing children proudly put on their school uniform every day – the only brand new outfit most of them own – also uplifts the esteem of the entire community, which has a positive domino effect on younger generations.

The team at Lifting Spirits raise money to send orphaned and very vulnerable children to school in Eswatini, a country in southern Africa. Eswatini has one of the world’s highest number of orphans and is one of the world’s poorest nations, yet it is full of children with big smiles and a huge desire to learn. Our fundraising pays for school fees, uniforms, book hire and stationery. We have a Lifting Spirits’ team on-the-ground in Eswatini and we work very closely with our Swazi partners.
